Nest began its journey in 2005, when it opened its first apartment in Baar (ZG). Since then, it has expanded its presence, offering comfortable and convenient temporary living spaces in Zug, Zurich and Basel. In 2009, Nest acquired its first entire property in Zurich and started to manage corporate apartment portfolios for various clients.
In 2015, Philippe Aenishaenslin took-over full ownership from his family venture and re-launched the brand from AE Business Home to Nest Temporary. To keep up with the fast-changing market, Nest acquired a competitor in 2017 and decided to integrate facility management in 2019, allowing its own staff to handle housekeeping, maintenance and light renovations. This ensured quality and efficiency in its services.
In 2020, Nest also launched its own furniture production facility, based on an upcycling concept. This enabled Nest to create customized, low-waste and interchangeable furniture for its units, reflecting its commitment to sustainability and innovation.
Nest realized that the temporary housing market was not only evolving in terms of physical units, but with no development in terms of how they are sourced and booked. That's when Nest ventured into E-commerce to digitally connect suppliers, customers and guests across Switzerland, simplifying and speeding-up the process and creating common knowledge.

The word nest has a long and rich history in the Indo-European languages. It can be traced back to the Proto-Germanic root «nizdo», which meant settlement or place of rest. From this root, we get the Latin word «nidus», which means nest or breeding place, and the German word «nieder», which means low or down.
A nest is a structure or place that provides shelter, comfort and protection for animals or humans. It can also be used metaphorically to describe a sense of security, cosiness and community. And finally, in both German and English, the word “Nest” is spelled and pronounced the same and has the same meaning. It’s that simple!
